2012 Sarcoma Research Grants: Applications close 28 September

Applications for the 2012 Sarcoma Research Grants close at 5pm Friday 28 September with the recipients announced within two months of closing.  These grants are offered for 12 months for direct research costs for clinical or translational research into sarcomas. Selection criteria include track record and project feasibility, innovation and excellence with particular priority given to clinically focussed research.  Click here to view current sarcoma research grants.

Johanna Sewell Sarcoma Research Grant 
In honour of her daughter Johanna, who was diagnosed with bone cancer (osteosarcoma) and tragically succumbed to this disease in 1989, Ms Helen Sewell (AM) has donated $50,000 to the Australasian Sarcoma Study Group to support sarcoma research. Click here to apply.
 
Andrew Ursini Sarcoma Research Grant 
In honour of Andrew Ursini, who was diagnosed with bone cancer (osteosarcoma) and tragically succumbed to to this disease in 2010, GPA Engineering has donated $50,000 to the Australasian Sarcoma Study Group to support sarcoma research.

Leon Stone Sarcoma Research Grant  In memory of Leon Stone who passed away this year after a battle with osteosarcoma at the age of 21.  Leon's family and friends have donated $34,000 to Australasian Sarcoma Study Group to support research for osteosarcoma. Click here to apply.

Rainbows for Kate Sarcoma Research Grant  The Rainbows for Kate Foundation has been a generous supporter of sarcoma research through donations to the Australasian Sarcoma Study Group since its inception.  The RFK grant is a PhD /MD scholarship top up of $25,000 per year for three years. Dr Andrew Baker Travel Scholarship  Dr Andrew Baker passed away this year and his family and friends have donated $5,000 to support a recent PhD or MD graduate to travel to the USA to attend a scientific conference and to secure a post-doctoral position there.
